Breaking Free from Financial Frustration
This year has been a tough one. I’ve faced significant changes, including a new job, a diagnosis of ADHD, and a general feeling of malaise. As a result, my financial situation has suffered, and I’ve been stuck in a rut. It’s time to take control and make some changes.
Finding a Side Hustle
I’ve come to realize that relying solely on my entry-level salary is no longer sustainable. It’s time to explore alternative sources of income, whether that’s freelancing, selling items online, or something else entirely. I’ve been hesitant to take this step, fearing it would highlight my failure to find a well-paying job. But I need to get over this mindset and focus on improving my financial situation.
Saving for a Home
My fiancé and I are planning to start a family soon, which means we need a more suitable living space. With rental inventory low and rent costs high, buying a home is becoming a more viable option. To make this a reality, we need to save for a down payment and closing costs while maintaining a healthy emergency fund. I plan to put any extra income from my side hustle or raises into a separate, high-interest bank account to ensure we’re prepared.
Revamping My Wardrobe
My fashion sense has been lacking, to say the least. I’ve been stuck in a comfort-focused rut, avoiding dresses and skirts because I don’t feel confident in them. It’s time to invest in quality basics, including comfortable bras and shoes, and cultivate a more professional style. By setting aside money each month for new clothing and getting rid of ill-fitting items, I hope to regain some confidence and feel more put together.
Tracking My Spending
I’ve never been great at budgeting, but I know I need to be more mindful of my spending habits. To do this, I’ll start keeping a “little black book” of purchases, including why I made each purchase and how it made me feel. This will help me identify areas where I can cut back and make more intentional decisions about how I spend my money.
Practicing Self-Kindness
Finally, I need to be kinder to myself. I’ve been tying my self-worth to my bank account, which has led to feelings of frustration and self-doubt. It’s time to stop judging myself so harshly and focus on nurturing the things that make me happy. By doing so, I hope to break free from the cycle of negativity and start building a more positive, fulfilling life.
