The High Cost of Fitness: A Personal Breakdown
As a fitness enthusiast, I’ve always known that maintaining a healthy lifestyle comes with a price tag. But just how much was I really spending? I decided to track my health and fitness expenses for a month to find out.
Monthly Must-Haves
From gym memberships to supplements, there are certain expenses that I consider essential to my fitness routine.
- Gym Membership: $32/month (a steal compared to my old gym, which was $60/month)
- Yoga Membership: $65/month (unlimited classes keep me sane)
- Epsom Salts: $5/month (a hot bath is my go-to stress reliever)
- Supplements: varies, but this month I spent $50 on protein powder, $43 on collagen powder, and $25 on vitamins
Fueling My Body
Eating healthy is crucial to my fitness goals, but it doesn’t come cheap.
- Weekly grocery bill: $50-$100 (organic meats, veggies, and specialty items add up quickly)
The Extras
From gym clothes to exercise equipment, there are certain luxuries that make my fitness journey more enjoyable.
- Alarm clock: $70 (worth it for those early morning workouts)
- Gym clothes and accessories: $230 this month (Lululemon, I love you)
- Exercise equipment: $20 for weights, $58 for a yoga mat, and $79 for a Dharma yoga wheel (investing in quality products that will last)
The Grand Total
$622 + $405 for equipment = $1,027
While I acknowledge that not everything on this list is necessary, I believe that investing in my health and fitness is worth every penny. And let’s be real, I love shopping for new workout gear and trying out the latest supplements. This experiment may have revealed my shopping habits, but it also reminded me that taking care of my body is a priority.
