Taking a Break and Refocusing
As I approach the final stretch of college, I’m feeling emotionally drained. Despite having a relatively slow week, I’ve been struggling to prioritize my well-being. It’s time to take a step back and focus on personal pursuits that bring me joy, like writing, cooking healthy meals, and getting back into my yoga routine.
Rediscovering the Power of Yoga
Yoga has been a significant part of my life for many years, and I’ve even completed a teacher training program. Although I don’t always use my certification to teach, I’ve learned valuable lessons that extend beyond the yoga mat. One of the most important takeaways is the importance of letting go of grudges. Holding onto anger can be toxic, and sometimes it’s healthier to release those emotions and move forward.
Comparison is the Thief of Joy
In yoga classes, it’s easy to compare myself to others who seem more flexible or advanced. But I’ve learned that it’s essential to focus on my own journey and progress, rather than comparing myself to others. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and it’s crucial to acknowledge and accept my own limitations.
Treating My Body with Kindness
During my yoga teacher training, I realized that I wasn’t being kind enough to my body. I often pushed myself to stay awake and productive, neglecting my body’s need for rest and self-care. I’ve learned that it’s essential to prioritize sleep, exercise, and healthy habits to maintain my overall well-being.
Mindset Over Materialism
Finally, I’ve come to understand that you can’t buy a certain mindset or lifestyle. Aspirational spending can be tempting, especially in the yoga community, but true confidence and growth come from within. It’s essential to focus on developing a positive mindset through hard work and dedication, rather than relying on material possessions or external validation.
By reflecting on these lessons, I hope to refocus my energy and prioritize my well-being during this final stretch of college.
