Midway Point: Tackling Home Organization One Area at a Time
As I approach the halfway mark of my 30-day home organization challenge, I’m excited to share my progress and lessons learned so far. With a move on the horizon, I’ve been dedicating significant chunks of my days to tackling multiple areas at once, rather than following the original one-area-per-day plan.
Bedroom Bliss
My bedroom, once a source of stress, is now a haven. I’ve conquered my closet, dresser, and under-bed storage, which were significant undertakings. While I haven’t completed as many areas as I’d hoped, I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished so far.
Highlights from the Journey
Closet/Clothes: Before, my closet was a chaotic mess, with clothes scattered across shelves and shoes hidden under my bed. Now, I’ve grouped clothes by category, making it easier to find what I need. I’ve also purged my wardrobe, donating four bags of clothes to Goodwill and sending one to Thredup to sell.
Craft Supplies: My craft bag was a disaster, filled with useless items and broken supplies. I’ve replaced it with a sturdy organization bin, which has transformed my crafting experience. I can now see everything I have, and it’s much easier to maintain.
Books: My bookcase was a jumbled mess, with books stacked haphazardly and spilling over into other areas of my room. While I haven’t downsized my book collection as much as I’d like, I’ve managed to consolidate my books onto one shelf, making it easier to pack them up when the time comes.
The Road Ahead
While I’ve made significant progress, I still have some daunting tasks ahead. Tackling the fridge, pantry, and computer files are next on my list, and I’m not looking forward to it. However, I know that completing these tasks will make my move much smoother and less stressful. With persistence and determination, I’m confident I’ll reach my goal of a fully organized home.
