Unleash Your Inner Artist: A 30-Day Creative Revival

Reclaiming Creativity: A Spring Challenge

As I reflect on my daily routine, I realize that I’ve been spending an increasing amount of time staring at screens – for work, leisure, and learning. While I love acquiring new skills and design techniques, I yearn for quality time away from the computer. Running outside has been my go-to escape, but my heart belongs to a more creative outlet – my old college sketchbook.

Rediscovering an Old Passion

During a recent visit to my parents’ house, I stumbled upon my trusty sketchbook, filled with doodles, paintings, and collages from my college days. I was amazed by the sheer volume of work I produced between lectures, homework, and social activities. What started as a class assignment turned into a daily habit, a space where I could experiment with various techniques without fear of judgment.

From Creative Freedom to Consuming Content

Fast forward to today, and I find myself consuming more content than creating it. After work, I’m more likely to socialize, cook, or watch TV than pick up a pencil or paintbrush. While I still dabble in hand lettering, it’s no longer a daily priority. Instagram accounts of prolific artists inspire me, but also leave me feeling nostalgic for my creative past.

The Spring Challenge

To recapture the creative spark of my 20-year-old self, I’m embarking on a spring challenge. For the next few weeks, I’ll commit to making at least one entry in my sketchbook every day. There are no rules, just a promise to myself to show up, pen in hand, and let my imagination run wild. I’ll revisit old techniques like collage, pattern-making, and watercoloring, and share my progress along the way.

Why Creativity Matters

While physical fitness is important, I miss exercising my creative muscle. By making art a daily priority, I hope to regain my confidence, productivity, and connection to the creative community. Sharing my imperfect work will be a challenge in itself, but it’s essential to overcoming self-doubt and embracing the process.

Stay Tuned!

I’ll be sharing weekly updates on my spring challenge here and on my Instagram. Join me on this creative journey, and let’s inspire each other to make time for the things that bring us joy!
