Embracing a Healthier Lifestyle: A Personal Journey
As I reflect on my life goals, being “healthy” is one that consistently tops the list. But what does that even mean? For me, it’s not just about physical appearance, but about nourishing my body to live a productive and fulfilling life. Recently, I embarked on a 30-day challenge to eat healthier and be more mindful of my food choices. It’s not been easy, but I’m learning valuable lessons along the way.
The Struggle is Real
One week into my challenge, I faced a major test: celebrating my college graduation with family and friends. While I’d been doing well during the week, cooking healthy meals and avoiding junk food, the weekend was a different story. I found myself gravitating towards greasy foods, like fries, and struggling to resist temptation. But here’s the thing: I noticed how terrible I felt after eating them, and that was a crucial revelation.
The Slip-Ups
Another area where I fell short was with alcohol. While I’ve been trying to cut back on drinking, my celebratory weekend was a bit of a free-for-all. I’m not proud of it, but it was a wake-up call. The aftermath wasn’t pretty – I woke up with a nasty cold that I’m still fighting off. It’s clear that excessive drinking doesn’t agree with my body, and that’s a valuable lesson learned.
