Ditching the Razor: My Journey to Permanent Hair-Free Happiness

Embracing My Furry Self: A Journey to Hair-Free Happiness

As a hairy human, I’ve been waging war on my body hair for as long as I can remember. With a unique genetic mix of Spanish, Italian/Greek, and Native American, I was blessed (or cursed) with a luscious coat of hair that seemed to sprout from every pore.

The Battle Begins

My hair removal journey started in elementary school, where I began getting regular eyebrow waxes and using Nair on my legs. As I entered middle school, I graduated to razors and shaving cream, and by high school, I was determined to rid my body of any unwanted hair. This daily struggle continued into college, where I would shave my arms, legs, and bikini area three times a week. The physical toll it took on my skin was exhausting, but I persisted.

Waxing: A Temporary Solution

Desperate for relief, I turned to waxing, which seemed like a miracle cure at first. However, the constant razor burn and painful waxing sessions soon took their toll. I was spending $65 every four to six weeks, only to be left feeling like I was stuck in a never-ending cycle of hair growth and removal.

The Cost of Beauty

When I took a closer look at my finances, I was shocked to discover that I had spent around $1,300 on waxing over two years. It was a staggering amount, equivalent to a nice vacation or a new computer. I realized that I couldn’t continue to justify this expense for a temporary fix.

Laser Hair Removal: A Game-Changer

That’s when I discovered laser hair removal. I had heard about it before, but thought it was only accessible to the wealthy. However, after researching a reputable center in my city, I found that the cost for a Brazilian was $100 – a little more than double what I was paying for a wax, but with permanent results. I was sold.

My Laser Experience

My first laser appointment was surprisingly quick and easy. The process was less painful than waxing, and I saw a difference in the thickness of my hair immediately. With each session, the laser power increased, but I could always ask to take it down a notch if needed. Six months and $600 later, I’m thrilled to say that I’m 95% hair free down there.

Is Laser Hair Removal Worth It?

While laser hair removal is a luxury expense, it’s absolutely worth considering if you’re someone who gets regular waxes. For me, it’s been a game-changer, and I’ll continue to shout its praises from the rooftops. However, until I win the lottery, I’ll continue to shave my legs like a peasant.
