Breaking Free from the Cycle of Negativity
As I sit in a quiet café, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of everyday life, I’m forced to confront the harsh reality of my current state of mind. A quote by Michelle Obama stares back at me, a poignant reminder that success is not about external validation, but about how I feel within. But right now, I’m stuck in a rut, and it’s hard to shake off the feeling of inadequacy.
The Weight of Expectations
I’ve tried everything to lift my spirits – from de-stressing strategies to mental health guides – but nothing seems to be working. It’s as if the universe is conspiring against me, and I’m left feeling like I’m constantly fighting an uphill battle. I’m not alone in this feeling, am I? We’ve all had those weeks where it feels like the world is against us, and it’s hard to find the motivation to keep going.
The Power of Self-Reflection
In counseling, I learned a valuable technique – the “towards and away” approach. It’s simple yet effective: before taking any action, ask yourself if it’s moving you towards or away from your goals and aspirations. But as I got better, I started to neglect this technique, thinking I was above it. What if, instead, I leaned into it and applied it to my internal dialogue? Would I be having this meltdown right now?
A Call to Action
I want to start being kinder to myself, to stop trying to control the uncontrollable, and to take time out for my own well-being. I want to shift my focus from negative self-talk to gratitude and self-awareness. I want to stop taking my health for granted and start working on myself, not for external validation, but for my own growth.
Finding Balance
It’s okay to take things slow and prioritize happiness over achievement. I want to start finding balance in my life, to stop letting negativity consume me, and to focus on the present moment. What do you want to start today?
