A New Chapter: Navigating Expenses with a Fresh Perspective
January marked a significant milestone in my life – I started a new job as a stripper at a topless club, leaving behind the demoralizing world of minimum wage and rude customers at a coffee shop. This new career path has not only boosted my income but also given me a sense of empowerment and confidence.
Tracking My Expenses
With my newfound financial freedom, I was curious to see how my spending habits would change. Here’s a breakdown of my January expenses:
Clothing: $72.99
I invested in some essential items for my new job, including lingerie, thigh-high socks, and a black clutch. Although this expense was higher than usual, I feel justified in treating myself to feel confident and sexy in my new role.
Food and Groceries: $54.64
Half of this amount went towards my biweekly subscription to Imperfect Produce, which delivers fresh, sustainable produce to my doorstep. The other half covered general groceries, which was lower than usual due to my efforts to use up existing pantry and freezer items.
Household Goods and Health: $1.69
A rare month with minimal spending in this category! I only needed to purchase a prescription antibiotic when I fell ill.
Gifts: $0.00
A welcome break from the usual gift-giving expenses, especially after the holiday season.
Entertainment: $1.69
I treated myself to a Steam game for my PC, which provided hours of entertainment and distraction.
Travel: $176.21
A significant expense, mostly attributed to Lyfts and Ubers for commuting to and from work. I’m reevaluating my need for a car, especially since my bike can cover shorter distances.
Personal Care and Beauty: $11.74
I picked up some essentials for my new job, including nail polish and blush. After researching YouTube reviews, I’m happy with my purchases.
Rent and Bills: $1,820.35
A substantial expense, but one that ensures I have a safe, comfortable living space. My apartment complex offers excellent maintenance, amenities, and a peaceful environment that improves my mental health.
Savings: $450
I contributed to my Roth IRA account, a habit I’ve maintained since my first job in high school. I’m grateful for the head start on my retirement fund.
Reflection and Goals
Overall, I’m pleased with my spending habits this month. While there are areas for improvement, such as reducing rent and travel expenses, I’m proud of my ability to prioritize my health, wellness, and savings goals. For next month, I aim to keep non-essential spending low and continue to focus on my financial well-being.
