Embracing Guilt-Free Indulgence: My Journey to a Thoughtful Wardrobe
As someone who’s been fortunate enough to indulge in luxury fashion items, I’ve come to realize the importance of finding a balance between treating myself and being mindful of my spending habits. After leaving the fashion industry, I made a conscious decision to slash my clothing budget in half, starting from 2019. The result? I’ve been extremely frugal, buying only a handful of items that cost less than $100 total in the past five months.
However, I soon realized that my extreme thriftiness was taking a toll on my wardrobe. I needed to invest in a few quality pieces that would make me feel confident and polished. But, I struggled with the idea of spending money on myself, feeling guilty about deviating from my strict budget.
Breaking Free from Guilt
After confiding in a trusted friend, I came to understand that it’s okay to treat myself every now and then. In fact, it’s essential for my well-being and happiness. With this newfound perspective, I set a savings goal of $8,000 and allocated $650 specifically for a wardrobe makeover.
