A Simple Recipe to Make at Home

The Essential Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounces freshly made espresso
- 1 1/2 ounces freshly made hot chocolate (try our Real Deal Hot Chocolate recipe)
- 1 1/2 ounces heavy cream
Crafting the Perfect Layer
To create the signature layered effect, follow these steps:
- Chill a cocktail shaker in the freezer for at least 10 minutes.
- Fill a large heatproof glass with hot tap water and set it aside.
- Empty the glass and dry it out.
- Pour the shot of espresso into the bottom of the glass.
- Slowly pour in the hot chocolate while tilting the glass slightly.
- Remove the shaker from the freezer, add the cream, and shake vigorously until frothy (at least 20 times).
- Spoon the shaken cream on top of the hot chocolate and serve immediately.
A Spiked Variation
For a grown-up twist, add 1 1/2 ounces of Patrón XO Café or other coffee-flavored liqueur to the hot chocolate before layering it. This will give your Bicerin an extra kick.
