Citrusy Bliss: Easy Orange Truffle Recipe

Orange You Glad It’s Truffle Time?

Indulge in the simplicity of these citrusy treats, perfect for impressing your loved one or adding a touch of elegance to your next gathering. With just a few ingredients and some quality time in the fridge, you’ll be rolling in truffles in no time.

The Perfect Marmalade

When it comes to selecting the right marmalade, look for a brand that packs a punch of zest in every bite. St. Dalfour is a great choice, ensuring your truffles are filled with chewy orange goodness.

Plan Ahead

These truffles can be made up to 2 days in advance, stored in an airtight container at room temperature. However, their orange flavor will diminish slightly with each passing day, so they’re best enjoyed fresh.

Let’s Get Started!

Yields: About 60 truffles
Difficulty: Easy
Total Time: 40 minutes + refrigeration time
Active Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped (about 3 cups)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup orange marmalade
  • 2 tablespoons orange liqueur (such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons orange zest (from 1 medium orange)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Melt the Chocolate: Place a medium saucepan filled with about 1 inch of water over medium-low heat until just simmering. Place the chopped chocolate in a medium glass or metal bowl and set it over (but not touching) the simmering water. Add the heavy cream and stir until the chocolate is smooth and melted, about 8 minutes.
  2. Add the Orange Zest: Remove the chocolate mixture from the heat and stir in the orange marmalade, liqueur, and zest until well combined. Pour the mixture into an 8-by-8-inch dish and refrigerate until firm, about 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
  3. Roll Out the Truffles: Once set, scoop the ganache into teaspoon-size balls. Roll each ball between the palms of your hands to create smooth, round truffles. Place the truffles on a baking sheet and repeat with the remaining ganache.
  4. Coat with Cocoa Powder: Place the cocoa powder in a shallow dish and roll the truffles in the powder to coat, shaking off any excess. Reroll the truffles in additional cocoa powder before serving, if necessary.
