From Overwhelm to Freedom: How I Learned to Be Intentional with My Time
As a full-time mom of three, I’ve often found myself feeling overwhelmed and like there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done. But one day, I realized that I had the power to change that. I could be intentional with my time and create a schedule that aligned with my values and priorities.
My Journey to Becoming a Full-Time Mom
Before having children, I thought I would continue working as an educator, just like many other parents. But after my first child was born, I realized that I didn’t want to miss out on precious time with her. I wanted to be the one to raise her, not pay someone else to do it. So, my husband and I made a plan to become debt-free, and after five years, I was able to leave my job and become a full-time mom.
The Challenge of Balancing Motherhood and Responsibilities
But even as a full-time mom, I struggled to balance my responsibilities with spending quality time with my children. I felt guilty when I wasn’t playing with them, and I felt overwhelmed by the laundry, dishes, and other household tasks. I realized that I needed to find a way to manage my time more effectively, so I could enjoy this season of motherhood without feeling stressed and anxious.
The Power of Intentional Scheduling
That’s when I discovered the power of intentional scheduling. My husband and I received some business advice that encouraged us to plan out our day, including our work, family time, and personal responsibilities. At first, it seemed silly to schedule everything, but it ended up being a game-changer for me.
How Intentional Scheduling Changed My Life
By scheduling my day, I was able to:
- Spend quality time with my children without feeling guilty or overwhelmed
- Complete household tasks without feeling like I was neglecting my children
- Teach my children the importance of responsibility and teamwork
- Enjoy my time with my children, knowing that I had a plan in place
- Feel a sense of freedom and fulfillment, knowing that I was using my time intentionally
The Freedom of Intentional Living
Intentional scheduling gave me the freedom to live the life I wanted, without feeling overwhelmed or guilty. It allowed me to prioritize what was most important to me – my relationship with my children – and to create a schedule that supported that. And the best part? It’s available to anyone, regardless of their circumstances.
Taking Control of Your Time
If you’re feeling overwhelmed and like there just aren’t enough hours in the day, I encourage you to try intentional scheduling. It may seem daunting at first, but it’s worth it. By taking control of your time, you can create a life that aligns with your values and priorities, and that brings you joy and fulfillment.
