Don’t be intimidated by the thought of making your own syrup. This recipe is surprisingly simple and requires only a few ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 5 fresh bay leaves
  • 3 dried bay leaves

Let the Magic Begin

Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and let it steep for 15 minutes.
