Cooking Outside the Box: Unconventional Kitchen Appliances
When it comes to cooking, we’re no strangers to thinking outside the box. Our trusty Crock-Pot, rice cooker, and Vitamix are always up for a culinary challenge. But what about our humble dishwasher? Can it really do more than just clean dishes?
The Dishwasher Debate
A recent tweet from Shape magazine sparked a heated online discussion when it shared an article from PureWow titled “5 Foods You Can Cook In Your Dishwasher.” The internet was abuzz with skepticism, humor, and more than a few GIFs. While we haven’t taken the plunge and attempted to cook salmon or asparagus in our dishwasher (we’ll leave that to the more adventurous cooks out there), some reputable cooking blogs have given it a try – and claim it’s a game-changer.
Beyond Cleaning Dishes
So, how does it work? Apparently, the hot water and steam in your dishwasher can be harnessed to cook certain types of food. It may not be suitable for every dish, but for those who have tried it, the results are surprisingly tasty. Who knows, you might just find yourself adding “dishwasher chef” to your resume.
The Verdict is Still Out
While we’re intrigued by the idea of cooking in our dishwasher, we’re not quite ready to trade in our traditional cooking methods just yet. But hey, if you’re feeling adventurous and want to give it a try, we’d love to hear about your experiences! Who knows, you might just stumble upon a new culinary trend.
