Wholesome Fun in a Box: Create a Cooties Bento
A Healthy and Engaging Meal for Kids
As a parent, ensuring your child eats a balanced diet can be a daily challenge. That’s why bentos and charabens (Character bentos) are a great way to provide a variety of nutrients in a fun and engaging way. With a little creativity, you can create a meal that’s both healthy and exciting for your kids.
The Cooties Bento Recipe
This recipe is perfect for a quick and easy lunch that’s packed with nutrients. With just 30 minutes of preparation time, you can create a meal that’s both fun and healthy.
Ingredients
- Cheese (enough for 3 large circles, 1cm thick, and some smaller circles)
- Processed Meat (enough for 3 large circles, 1 cm thick)
- 1 Boiled Egg
- 3 leaves of curly Lettuce
- Half a cup of Boiled white Rice
- 5 Stuffed green olives
- Nori dried toasted Seaweed (1 sheet)
Preparing the Ingredients
To start, boil the eggs and cook the rice according to your preference. While these are cooking, lay out the lettuce leaves in one side of the Bento Box, and set aside the cooked rice for later use.
Crafting the Cooties
Cut the cheese into circles the same diameter as the egg using a cookie cutter or a baby bottle cap. Repeat this process with the processed meat. Cut the boiled egg in half to create the head and tail of the Cootie.
Adding the Finishing Touches
Use small circles of cheese to create the eyes, and a hole punch to create small dots from the nori seaweed for the pupils. Arrange the pieces of food to create a stripy body, with the boiled egg forming the head and tail. Place the stuffed olives on top of the rice, and add the cheese eyes to complete the Cootie. Use any remaining scraps of meat to create legs, and save the leftover cheese for a toasted cheese sandwich another day.
With this recipe, you can create a fun and healthy meal that your kids will love. So why not give it a try and see the excitement on their faces when they open their lunchbox?
