Fast, Flavorful, and Fabulous Fish Tacos
When it comes to satisfying cravings, few dishes hit the spot like a delicious fish taco. And the best part? You don’t have to travel far to get your fix! With just four main ingredients, you can whip up a mouthwatering meal in no time.
Inspiration from the Pros
I’ve always been a fan of fish tacos, especially those from a popular spot in Atlanta. But when I’m short on time or don’t feel like making the 60-mile round trip, I turn to my trusty kitchen to create a culinary masterpiece.
A Recipe Born from Necessity
One Saturday, while watching college football, I got an intense craving for fish tacos. Rather than driving an hour for a taco fix, I headed to my local Publix and concocted a recipe that would become a staple in my household.
Quick, Easy, and Delicious
This recipe yields 8-10 tacos and takes approximately 30-40 minutes to prepare, with only 20 minutes of active cooking time. The best part? It’s incredibly easy to make!
Gather Your Ingredients
- 2lbs Talapia fillets
- 1 cup of your favorite fish fry (Zatarans is a great choice)
- 8oz queso dip (with or without jalapeno peppers)
- 16oz of your favorite coleslaw (Publix deli brand shredded coleslaw is a winner)
- 12-15 soft taco shells
- Fresh ground pepper
- Kosher sea salt
- Peanut oil (amount varies depending on your frying method)
Let’s Get Cooking!
- Heat peanut oil in a deep fryer to 350 degrees.
- Cut the Talapia fillets into strips, about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch wide.
- Pour the fish fry into a bowl, adding salt and pepper to taste.
- Toss the fish fillets in the fish fry until well coated, shaking off any excess.
- Fry the fish until golden brown and flaky, about 4 minutes. Allow it to drain.
- Heat the taco shells in the microwave for 25-30 seconds.
- Spread a thin coat of queso dip on the center portion of each taco shell, adding more if desired.
- Place 2-3 pieces of fish in the center of each shell, followed by 1 tablespoon of coleslaw.
- Fold and serve immediately!
With this simple recipe, you’ll be enjoying mouthwatering fish tacos in no time. So go ahead, give it a try, and satisfy your cravings without breaking a sweat!
