Elevate Your Snack Game: Homemade Furikake Chips for Ahi Tuna Poke
Finding the perfect chip to pair with Polynesian-style Ahi Tuna Poke can be a challenge. That’s why we decided to take matters into our own hands and create a unique, flavorful snack using wonton wrappers, salt, vegetable oil, and furikake.
What You’ll Need
To get started, you’ll need to pick up a few essential ingredients, including furikake, a Japanese seasoning blend that typically contains toasted sesame seeds, crushed nori, dried fish, sugar, and salt. You can find furikake at most gourmet grocery stores or online.
The Recipe
Yield: Approximately 120 crisps
Difficulty: Easy
Total Time: 40 minutes
Active Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 package 3-by-3-inch square wonton wrappers (about 60)
- 5-6 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt
- 1/3 cup furikake
Instructions
Preheat and Prep
Heat your oven to 350°F and arrange two racks to divide the oven into thirds.
Cut and Season
Slice the wonton wrappers in half diagonally to form two triangles. Lightly brush two baking sheets with vegetable oil and arrange the triangles in a single flat layer without touching, about 24 triangles per sheet. Lightly brush the top of each triangle with vegetable oil and season with salt.
Add Flavor
Sprinkle a generous tablespoon of furikake over each baking sheet.
Bake to Perfection
Bake until the surface of the wontons just begins to blister, about 4 minutes. Rotate the pans between the racks and bake another 4 minutes, until the crisps are golden brown all over.
Serve and Store
Transfer the crisps to a serving dish and repeat with the remaining wonton triangles. The cooled crisps can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
With these crispy, flavorful chips, you’ll elevate your Ahi Tuna Poke game and impress your friends with your culinary creativity. So go ahead, give them a try, and enjoy the perfect snack pairing!
