Gather Your Ingredients
To make Ka-Soy, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- 2 pounds Ground Pork
- 1 ½ teaspoons of Minced Garlic
- 1 cup of Cherry Tomatoes (sliced)
- ½ cup of minced Cilantro
- ½ cup of chopped Green Onions
- ¼ cup of minced Jalapenos
- 1 cup of fine slice of Cabbage
- 1 cup of Bean Sprouts
- 2 sticks of Lemon Grass – cut in 2-inch pieces
- 1 whole lime (4 or 6 slices)
- 2 teaspoons of MIEN bean paste (optional) – Substitution Garlic Chili Bean Sauce
- 2 teaspoons of Red Curry
- 1 tablespoon of Beef Paste
- 1 cup of sliced Asian Beef Balls
- 1 Cup of Asian Pork Ham
- 1 ½ Gallon of Water
- 2 cans of Beef Broth
- 1 ½ bag of Rice Noodles
- 1 cup of Shrimp (optional)
- Condiments: Hoison Sauce, Fish Sauce, Sriracha Sauce, and Chili Oil Sauce
Let’s Get Cooking!
Begin by heating a frying pan with a splash of olive oil or vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds before adding the ground pork. Season with salt and cook until the pork is one-third of the way done.
Next, add the red curry, beef paste, and cherry tomatoes to the pan, breaking up the ground pork as you cook. Meanwhile, bring a deep pot of water to a boil and cook the rice noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
In a separate pot, combine the lemon grass, water, and beef broth. Bring to a boil, then add the beef balls and/or shrimp. Once cooked, assemble the soup by placing the noodles in a bowl, topping with the cooked ground pork, cabbage, bean sprouts, cilantro, jalapenos, and green onions. Squeeze a slice of fresh lime over the top and add a few slices of Asian ham. Finally, add the broth and your choice of condiments for a flavor explosion.
