The Secret to Flaky Biscuits

When it comes to making the perfect biscuit, there’s one crucial step that sets the tone for the entire process: keeping your butter cold. This ensures a flaky, tender crumb that’s simply irresistible.

Gather Your Ingredients

To make these scrumptious biscuits, you’ll need just six ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more as needed
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 8 tablespoons cold unsalted butter (1 stick), cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1 cup cold buttermilk

Get Started

Preheat your oven to 425°F and arrange a rack in the middle. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.

Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda to aerate and combine. Add the cold butter pieces and toss them in the flour mixture to coat. Place the bowl in the freezer for 10 minutes to chill.

Cut in the Butter
