Rolling into Fun: A Morning at the High Line Rink
This past Sunday, our team traded in their morning coffee for a dose of adrenaline at New York’s High Line Park. Instead of taking in the city views from the elevated greenway, we laced up our roller skates and hit the High Line Rink for a fun-filled morning.
Finding Our Balance
As we tentatively stepped onto the rink, our initial laps were marked by shaky steps and nervous laughter. But with the guidance of professional figure skater and coach Sarah Zanolli, we quickly learned the importance of bending our knees and keeping our arms out in front to maintain control and balance. Sarah’s expert tips helped us navigate the concrete surface with confidence.
The Physical Challenge
As the morning wore on, we discovered that roller skating is no easy feat. Our cores and glutes were put to the test as we struggled to stay upright and change direction. By the time we wrapped up for lunch, our legs were tired and wobbly. But the sense of accomplishment was palpable.
Getting Groovy
A few of our team members even attempted some disco-inspired dance moves, set to the rink’s upbeat playlist. While we may not have been the next big thing in roller skating, we had a blast trying. Coach Sarah reminded us that the most important thing is to keep a positive attitude, even when getting lapped by 5-year-olds.
Next Stop: Skating Superstars
With our skates off and our feet back on solid ground, we vowed to return to the High Line Rink for more practice and fun. To stay up-to-date on the park’s rink and all other things High Line, follow them on Twitter and Facebook. We can’t wait to roll into our next adventure!
