Easy DIY Wreath Ideas: Transform Your Space on a Budget

Spruce Up Your Space with Easy DIY Wreaths

Are you tired of feeling like your home is missing that special something? Do you dream of having a beautifully styled space that reflects your personality? You’re not alone! When I moved into my new home, I knew I had to get creative to turn it into a haven that felt truly mine.

Renovation Reality Check

Before I could start decorating, I had to tackle the essentials: electrics, heating, plasterboard, insulation, and more. It’s a long process, but I’ve found ways to satisfy my desire for beauty and creativity in the meantime. Making my own decorations has become a fun and affordable way to add joy to my life.

The Perfect DIY Project: Half-Hoop Wreaths

Recently, I fell in love with seasonal wreaths online, but the hefty price tag ($100 to $175 each!) was a major deterrent. I knew I’d want one for each season, and that would add up quickly! So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create my own wreaths.

Why Eucalyptus is My Go-To

I’ve discovered that eucalyptus is the perfect material for my wreaths. It’s easy to work with, lasts for years, and has an incredible fragrance as it dries. Plus, you can use all sorts of plants and trees to create a unique look. I’ve also experimented with pampas, hydrangea blooms, and holly from my garden.

Getting Started

To make your own wreath, you’ll need:

  • A 20-inch metal hoop (or any size you prefer)
  • 4-5 stems of eucalyptus (or your chosen plant)
  • Florist wire
  • Wire cutter
  • Florist shears
  • Twine

Total Cost: ~$75
Total Project Time: 30 minutes to 1 hour

Let’s Get Crafting!

  1. Gather your supplies and decide on the placement of your stems.
  2. Wrap the florist wire around the top of the hoop three or four times.
  3. Place the stems back over the hoop and gather the two upward-facing stems and the hoop.
  4. Wrap the wire around the stems and hoop until you reach the 180-degree mark.
  5. Cut the wire and wrap the remainder around the hoop.
  6. Repeat the process on the other side of the hoop.
  7. Use the shears to trim any excess stems.
  8. Add more stems to achieve the desired look.
  9. Tie some twine or string to the top of the hoop, and you’re ready to hang your wreath!
