How the Mute Button Works

By muting an account, you’ll no longer see their tweets in your feed. However, if you choose to continue following the muted account and they mention you in a tweet, you’ll still receive notifications. If you don’t follow them, they’ll be completely filtered out of your feed.

But that’s not all. Twitter’s new feature also allows you to filter out specific hashtags and keywords that may trigger uncomfortable or offensive content. To access this feature, navigate to your settings, toggle to the notifications tab, and select “muted words.” Add the words or phrases you’d like to avoid, save your changes, and they’ll be removed from your feed.
