Holiday Weight Gain: The Season of Indulgence

The Holiday Feasting Frenzy: A Season of Indulgence

Giving in to Gluttony

As the holiday season approaches, many of us can’t resist the temptation of festive treats and lavish feasts. It’s no wonder that holiday weight gain is a common phenomenon, with gingerbread houses, honey-baked hams, and cookieswap parties dominating our social calendars.

A recent survey reveals that the majority of adult Americans prioritize indulgence over watching their waistlines during the holidays. In fact, more than half of the respondents surveyed admitted to giving in to gluttony because it’s a special time of year. Younger adults, aged 18-34, are the most likely to overindulge, with 64% confessing to overdoing it during the holiday season.

Who’s Most Likely to Diet in the New Year?

However, come January 1, only 23% of respondents plan to make significant changes to their diets. Interestingly, city dwellers and those aged 35-49 are the most likely to hop on the diet bandwagon, while rural residents, those without a college education, and seniors aged 65 or older are least likely to revamp their eating habits.
