As I reflect on my own professional journey, I’m reminded of the struggles my friend has faced in her career due to her gender. While I’ve been fortunate to avoid similar experiences, I know that sexism is a harsh reality for many women. To gain a deeper understanding, I reached out to ten women working in male-dominated fields and asked them to share their stories.

The Struggle for Equality

Jamie, a public affairs specialist, has encountered a “little sister” complex in her workplace. Her male colleagues, while well-intentioned, often underestimate her capabilities, making it essential for her to assert herself and shed her “nice girl” attitude to be taken seriously.

Ella, a computer science professional, faced self-doubt during her degree program due to the confidence and bravado of her male classmates. However, she’s found a supportive environment in her government roles, where women in tech are valued.
