Embracing Diversity and Inclusion: A Lifelong Commitment to Growth and Action

A Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

As I reflect on the past week, I’m reminded that my own struggles pale in comparison to the daily challenges faced by people of color. The reality is, I don’t have to worry about the safety and well-being of my loved ones in the same way or for the same reasons.

Acknowledging Privilege and Taking Action

I recognize that I’ve benefited from privilege and will never truly understand the experiences of those who haven’t had the same advantages. However, as a leader in the career and business space, and as a mother, I know I can do better. I’m committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment, and I welcome your thoughts and feedback.

Immediate Actions Towards a More Inclusive Future

As an organization, we’re prioritizing diversity and inclusion. This is a lifelong commitment, but here are some immediate steps I’m taking:

  • Education: I’ve added books like Me and White Supremacy by Layla Saad, White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo, and How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi to my reading list.
  • Training: I’ll be enrolling in a 9-week course to learn how to create a safe and equitable online space for our members and content consumers.

A Long-Term Commitment to Growth and Learning

This is just the beginning. I’ll continue to update you on my progress and share what I’ve learned along the way.
