As a young adult, I thought being fit meant conforming to a certain image – trim, toned, and frequent gym-goer. I tied my self-worth to the number of times I visited the gym, believing that was the key to being healthy. But life had other plans. After landing a full-time job, my schedule became hectic, and exercising took a backseat. I felt guilty for not making time for the gym, and resented those who seemed to have it all together.

But the truth is, I didn’t need the gym to be active. I just needed to find a new way to prioritize my physical and mental health. At first, it was tough to adjust to a new routine. I felt out of shape and sore after attempting to get back into exercising. But I realized that my own choices were holding me back, not my busy schedule.

Today, I’ve come to realize that fitness isn’t about conforming to a certain image or routine; it’s about finding what works for me and making it a sustainable part of my life. I’ve learned to appreciate the flexibility of exercising anywhere, anytime, and that it’s okay to prioritize self-care over guilt and obligation. My new approach to fitness has brought me a sense of balance, refreshment, and happiness – and that’s what truly matters.
