Should I Interview for a Job I Might Not Take?
Dear Confused Applicant,
Congrats on the interview! You should definitely interview for the position because you never know what might happen with your husband’s job offer. I wouldn’t start worrying about which job to take until you have two job offers to consider.
Interviews are an excellent way to practice answering tough questions and to learn more about the industry that you want to get into. The benefit you will have in this situation is that hopefully, you will be less nervous during the interview. This will give you the confidence you need to nail this interview and interviews later on down the road.

On the flip side, you will have to try extra hard to show your excitement for the job. Most interviewers can tell very quickly if you really want the job or not. They don’t want to hire someone who doesn’t really want to be in the position. You don’t want to give any warning signs to this potential employer because you really don’t know what might happen with your husband’s job offer.
Keep all off your options open. Your husband might even get the job offer but dislike the people he interviewed with. Perhaps he will decide not to take it, and then you are moving to Minnesota! If you don’t interview, you might be kicking yourself later!
I hope this helps! Good luck on the interview!
