Breaking Out of a Rut: The Power of Networking

Have you ever felt stuck in a rut, unsure of how to make a change? I was in the same situation a year ago, but I knew I needed to do something differently. That’s when I discovered the power of networking.

A Year of Growth and Learning

Before I started my networking journey, I attended a seminar at work where I learned about the concept of 4X4 Networking. Each month, I would meet with four people I already knew but wanted to get to know better, and four people I didn’t know but wanted to connect with. This simple idea sparked a year of growth, learning, and transformation.

Lessons Learned Along the Way

Throughout my networking journey, I learned many valuable lessons that I want to share with you. Here are a few:

• Don’t forget to follow up: If someone shares something that resonates with you, thank them later. It means a lot to them.
• Be unique: Don’t write about topics that are already all over the internet. Find your own voice and perspective.
• People want to help: Everyone I reached out to for an informational interview responded positively. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
• Be prepared: Always have your elevator pitch ready and be prepared for unexpected conversations.
• Keep track: Keep a record of who you met and what you learned. It will help you stay organized and reflect on your progress.
