Rise and Shine: How to Train Yourself to Become a Morning Person
As someone who’s been waking up before the crack of dawn for years, I’ve learned a thing or two about how to make the most of my morning routine. It wasn’t always easy, though. In fact, I used to be a typical teenager who would have rather slept in until noon if given the chance. But with the help of a few simple tricks, I was able to fake being a morning person until it became second nature.
The Early Bird Catches the Worm (But First, Make Your Bed)
The first step in becoming a morning person is to create a sense of discipline and routine. As soon as you get out of bed, make it. This simple act sets the tone for the rest of your day and helps you avoid the temptation of crawling back under the covers.
Give Yourself a Boost with Vitamins
Taking vitamins is a crucial part of my morning routine. I swear by vitamin D to ward off seasonal sluggishness and B-12 to give me an energy boost. Of course, it’s essential to consult with a medical professional before adding any new supplements to your routine.
Get Moving to Get Going
Next, get your body moving. Whether it’s yoga, a short walk, or a trip to the gym, exercise helps increase energy levels and wakes you up faster than a cup of coffee. As someone who’s been practicing yoga for years, I can attest to its benefits in setting a positive tone for the day.
Dress for Success (Even If It’s Just Pajamas)
Getting ready right away is key to starting your day on the right foot. Avoid the temptation of lounging around in your PJs and instead, put on some clothes that make you feel motivated and energized. For me, that means throwing on workout gear and getting ready for my morning yoga routine.
Unwind with a Morning Routine That Works for You
Finally, take some time to relax and unwind before diving into your day. Whether it’s watching a funny TV show, reading a magazine, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee in peace, make time for an activity that brings you joy and sets a positive tone for the day.
Becoming a morning person isn’t about being productive; it’s about feeling energized, motivated, and ready to take on the day. By incorporating these simple tips into your routine, you can train yourself to become a morning person and start your day off on the right foot.
