Embracing a New Chapter: My 30-Day Organizing Challenge
As I prepare to embark on a new journey, moving in with my partner Peter, I’m forced to confront my lifelong struggle with organization. While I’ve mastered the art of using a bullet journal and managing my work life, my living space has always been a different story. Clutter tends to build up, making it overwhelming to tackle. But with this new chapter, I’m determined to change my ways.
A Fresh Start
Peter and I have already hosted our first party in our new apartment, which motivated us to get everything in order. With everything feeling fresh and new, we’ve been diligent about keeping the space clean. I’ve even started using my work breaks to tidy up and complete small tasks, like wiping down the bathroom or putting away laundry. This newfound sense of responsibility has inspired me to take control of my current living space before the big move.
My 30-Day Challenge
To ensure a smooth transition, I’ve created a 30-day organizing challenge for myself. I’ve based it on a Huffington Post challenge, but tailored it to fit my specific needs. The goal is to get all my physical belongings organized before packing, including clearing out the pantry, refrigerator, closet, and even deleting old emails. I’ve dedicated specific days to tackling areas like jewelry, pet supplies, and storage spaces.
A Smooth Move
My primary objective is to make the moving process as seamless as possible. By having everything organized and cleaned out beforehand, packing will be a breeze. I’ll also avoid bringing unnecessary items into our new home, which will help us avoid clutter in the long run. As I prepare for this new chapter, I’m excited to take control of my space and start fresh.
Accountability and Progress
I’ll be sharing updates on my progress, including photos, to hold myself accountable. If you’ve completed an organization challenge, I’d love to hear your tips and advice!
