Embracing Change: How I Prepared for a New Role
As I sat down to write this, my legs were still vibrating with excitement and a hint of anxiety. It’s a feeling I’ve grown accustomed to over the past few weeks, as I embarked on a new journey as Social Media Manager at TFD. The transition has been a whirlwind of emotions, but I’m thrilled to share how I prepared for this new chapter.
Laying the Groundwork
Before diving into my new role, I knew I needed to plan extensively. I created detailed to-do lists, scheduled my days meticulously, and even covered my desktop with virtual sticky notes. It may seem excessive, but having a clear outline of tasks and goals has been instrumental in helping me navigate this new territory.
Arming Myself with Knowledge
To feel confident in my abilities, I realized I needed to acquire new skills. That’s where Skillshare came in – an online learning community that offers thousands of classes in various subjects. I took classes on social media strategy, copywriting, and content creation, which provided me with a solid foundation for my new role. These classes not only alleviated my anxiety but also gave me the tools I needed to excel.
Finding Balance
As I transitioned from a traditional office environment to working from home, I had to redefine my concept of work-life balance. Instead of drawing a hard line between work and personal life, I’ve learned to integrate elements of my home life into my workdays. This approach has allowed me to maintain a sense of balance and avoid feelings of resentment.
A New Chapter
As I look back on the past few weeks, I’m proud of the progress I’ve made. From planning and learning to finding balance, I’ve taken deliberate steps to prepare for this new role. I’m excited to continue growing and learning, and I’m grateful to be part of the TFD team.
