Two Years of Financial Growth
As I celebrate my two-year anniversary at The Financial Diet, I’m filled with gratitude and excitement. Being part of a dynamic team of women who share a common passion for financial literacy has been a game-changer for me. Our team has grown from five to eight members, and we’ve had the privilege of working with numerous talented writers who’ve shared their stories with us.
Lessons Learned
Working with TFD has taught me valuable lessons about work-life balance, the joy of empowering new writers, and the importance of community. But what’s stuck with me the most are the practical takeaways from reading countless articles on personal finance every week. Despite still making mistakes, I’m confident that my relationship with money is better than ever.
My Top 3 Money Mantras
Prioritize Your Goals
Traditional budgeting doesn’t work for me. Instead, I focus on setting aside at least 30% of my income for goals, such as saving for vacations, building an emergency fund, and retirement. This approach gives me the freedom to enjoy my life without worrying about overspending.
Rethink Your Treats
I used to default to takeout when I was feeling lazy, but I’ve learned to distinguish between treats and necessities. By cooking at home more often and taking lunch to work, I’ve been able to rein in my spending and develop healthier financial habits.
Gratitude is Key
Training my brain to focus on what I’m grateful for has been a crucial aspect of my financial journey. Instead of saying “I have to,” I say “I get to.” This mindset shift has helped me appreciate the privilege of being able to afford the things I need, even when they’re not exactly what I want.
The Power of Community
Working with TFD has been a transformative experience, and I’m grateful to our readers, writers, and community for being part of this journey. Here’s to many more years of open and honest conversations about money!
