The Mascara Conundrum: Finding the Perfect Formula
As a self-proclaimed mascara aficionado, I’m extremely particular about the products I use. I crave formulas that pack a punch, delivering dramatic results that make my lashes stand out. Iris Apfel’s mantra, “More is more and less is a bore,” resonates deeply with me, especially when it comes to my mascara preferences.
A Balance Between Drama and Practicality
While I adore subtle eye makeup looks and soft blushes, my lashes are a different story altogether. I want them to be bold, voluminous, and attention-grabbing. However, most mascaras that deliver these results often come with a major drawback: smudging and clumping. This frustrating phenomenon leaves me with raccoon-like under-eyes, a look that’s far from appealing.
The Search for the Perfect Mascara
Given my high standards, any new mascara I try has a lot to live up to. So, when I got my hands on Glossier’s Lash Slick mascara, I was curious to see if it would meet my expectations. Priced at $16, this mid-range mascara promises to enhance my natural lashes without clumping or flaking.
A “No Makeup-Makeup” Approach
Glossier’s Lash Slick is designed to provide a natural, everyday look, adding length without drama. It’s also water-resistant, making it suitable for daily wear. While I couldn’t test its tear-resistance, beauty influencer Dodie Clark swears by its staying power.
My Experience with Lash Slick
Unfortunately, my experience with Lash Slick was underwhelming. Despite its promises, it only managed to darken my lashes, without adding any noticeable length or volume. From a distance, it didn’t even look like I was wearing mascara at all.
Redeeming Qualities
While Lash Slick didn’t impress me, its packaging is undeniably cute, and the silicone brush ensures a precise application. These small perks aside, I won’t be repurchasing this mascara.
The Verdict
If you’re looking for a subtle, natural-looking mascara, Lash Slick might be the perfect fit. However, if you’re like me and crave drama and volume, you might want to look elsewhere. For now, I’ll stick to my trusty Too Faced’s Better Than Sex mascara.
