Balancing Beauty and Budget: My Journey to Self-Care Sanity

Embracing Self-Care: Finding Balance in My Beauty Routine

As a teenager, I was captivated by the world of beauty and fashion. I spent hours watching YouTube tutorials, buying products, and experimenting with different looks. While it was fun, it took a toll on my bank account. I’d often sacrifice other essentials to fund my beauty habits.

A Shift in Perspective

One day, while getting hair extensions, I realized that I didn’t need to break the bank to feel beautiful. I enjoyed making myself up, but I didn’t need to go overboard. I scaled back my spending and started doing my hair and nails myself. For a while, it worked, but eventually, it became tedious.

Finding Sanity in Professional Help

Last year, I admitted to myself that outsourcing certain beauty tasks was worth the cost. I was no longer willing to sacrifice my sanity for the sake of saving a few bucks. This year, I’m happily paying for:

Hair Care

I’ll be getting my hair done professionally twice a month, complete with a blowout. It’s worth the $50-$60 per session to have someone else handle the task.

Nail Care

I’ve come to accept that I’m terrible at doing my own nails. Monthly gel manicures and regular pedicures are a worthwhile investment at $50 per visit.

Skincare

While at-home facials are great, professional facials are unbeatable. I’ll be treating myself to quarterly facials at Mario Badescu in New York City, priced at $65 per session.

The Importance of Balance

It’s essential to remember that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to spending. If something brings you joy or makes your life easier, it’s okay to splurge – as long as you’re budgeting for it. I’m prioritizing my beauty routine while still living within my means.
