The Great American Credit-Off: Meet the Contestants
Having a solid credit score is crucial in today’s world. Whether you’re looking to finance a car or secure an apartment lease, a good credit score can make all the difference. However, building and maintaining a strong credit score can be a daunting task. That’s why we’ve partnered with CreditRepair.com to launch the Great American Credit-Off, a competition where three contestants will vie for top honors in three different credit categories.
Meet the Contestants
Our three contestants, Mallorie, Aniesha, and Jennifer, have shared their current credit scores and their goals for improving them. They’ll be competing in the following categories: largest increase in credit score, biggest improvement in monthly credit utilization rate, and paying off the highest percentage of consumer debt.
Mallorie’s Story
Mallorie’s current FICO credit score stands at 502, up from 490. She’s been working hard to improve her score by paying bills on time and researching secured credit cards to boost her credit utilization. Despite being laid off in June, Mallorie remains committed to her financial goals and has been using an Excel spreadsheet to track her income and expenses.
Aniesha’s Journey
Aniesha’s credit score has seen a significant jump, from 523 to 649. She attributes this improvement to paying down her credit card debt and interest on her student loans. By cutting back on discretionary spending, Aniesha has been able to save money and make progress towards her financial goals.
Jennifer’s Progress
Jennifer’s current FICO credit score is 673, up from 654. She’s been focused on paying down debt, avoiding new credit applications, and creating a budget. Although she’s faced setbacks, such as being denied refinancing on her home, Jennifer remains committed to her goals and has been able to reduce her interest rate by 1%.
The Road Ahead
Over the next few months, our contestants will continue to work with CreditRepair.com to improve their credit scores. With the help of CreditRepair.com, they’ll be able to challenge unfair or inaccurate items on their credit reports and learn how to maintain a strong credit score.
