As the year draws to a close, it’s essential to reflect on what we want to leave behind and what we want to create in the year ahead. Despite the challenges we may face, our external circumstances don’t define how we show up. Now is the perfect time to reassess our life strategy and set achievable goals that drive growth, accomplishment, and improved quality of life.
I’m not advocating for fleeting New Year’s resolutions, but rather well-thought-out objectives that bring us closer to our purpose. Goals are the bridge between our thoughts and actions, helping us feel complete and fulfilled. When done correctly, they can even reshape our beliefs by acknowledging the positive progress we make.
Before crafting a plan, it’s crucial to ask ourselves the right questions. What do we want to achieve? Why is it important to us? Is this goal aligned with our values and talents? Are we clear about what we want to accomplish, and are we ready to take action?
To set ourselves up for success, we must consider the following:
* Why do we want to achieve this goal, and what’s driving us?
* What specifically do we want to accomplish, and can we detail the outcome?
* Does the goal belong to us, or are we working towards someone else’s objective?
* Is the goal realistic, and have we allowed enough time for it to unfold?
* What steps will we take to make progress, and how will we stay on track?
* Can we achieve our goal in a timely manner, or are we setting ourselves up for disappointment?
* Have we written down our goals, making them tangible and focused?
* How will we measure our success, and what review periods will we set?
* Is our goal flexible, or are we open to adapting our approach?
* What’s our deadline, and how will we hold ourselves accountable?
By asking ourselves these questions, we can create a clear vision, establish our motivations, and commit to a timeline. With consistency and objectivity, we can reach our goals and create a better tomorrow. So, what will you be working to release, elevate, or create in the coming year?
