European Escape in Every Bite
Imagine yourself strolling along the charming streets of Paris, surrounded by the aroma of freshly baked bread and the sound of soft accordion music. While we can’t always be in the City of Love, we can certainly bring a taste of Europe to our tables.
A Parisian Panini to Die For
This mouthwatering sandwich is a perfect blend of French flavors, featuring thick, crusty bread, melted Gouda cheese, savory olive tapenade, and juicy roast turkey. The combination is simply délicieux!
Tips for Perfection
To achieve the perfect panini, preheat your press a few minutes ahead of time and cook on lower heat for a longer period. This ensures crispy, toasted bread without burning. Also, slightly stale bread works better than fresh bread in a press.
The Recipe
Makes 2 sandwiches
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 4 slices pain au levain, each 1/2-inch thick
- 4 ounces Port-Salut, fontina, or Gouda cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons olive tapenade (store-bought is fine)
- 4 ounces roast turkey breast, thinly sliced
Assembly and Grilling
Preheat the panini press. Evenly spread butter on each bread slice, sprinkle with salt, and arrange the cheese, tapenade, and turkey accordingly. Place the sandwiches on the press and grill until the cheese is melted and the sandwich is heated through, about 5 minutes.
Serve with Elegance
Pair your Parisian panini with a French-inspired green salad and macarons for dessert. Bon appétit!
