Inspired by the Pros
Who says breakfast can’t be a showstopper? Take a cue from the culinary experts and elevate your morning routine with this rich and indulgent chocolate-stuffed French toast recipe.
Gather Your Ingredients
To create this sweet masterpiece, you’ll need:
- 8 slices of brioche bread
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup of heavy whipping cream
- 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 4 tablespoons of canola oil
- 1/2 cup of chocolate ganache
- A pinch of salt
Assemble the Sandwiches
Spread 2 tablespoons of chocolate ganache on a slice of bread, then top with a second slice. Repeat this process for the remaining pieces of bread.
Prepare the Egg Mixture
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large baking pan, whisk together the eggs, cream, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, and salt. Place the “sandwiches” in the pan, coating them evenly. Let the bread sit for at least 5 minutes to absorb the mixture.
Cook the French Toast
Heat 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of oil in a large nonstick pan over medium-high heat until the butter is melted. Add 2 sandwiches to the pan and cook until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer the sandwiches to a baking sheet and wipe the pan clean with paper towels. Repeat the process with the remaining butter, oil, and sandwiches.
Finish with a Flourish
Bake the sandwiches in the oven for 6 minutes. Serve warm with a drizzle of maple syrup or creme anglaise for a truly decadent breakfast experience.
Tips and Variations
