Get Ready to Grill

Before you start, make sure to soak your wooden skewers in warm water for 30 minutes to prevent them from burning on the grill.

Ingredients

  • 6-8 wooden or metal skewers
  • 2 cups seedless red grapes
  • 4 medium oranges, sliced
  • 3 medium lemons, sliced
  • 1 medium green apple, cored and cut into wedges
  • 1 medium red apple, cored and cut into wedges
  • 2 bottles Spanish red wine, chilled
  • 1 1/2 cups brandy
  • 1 cup orange liqueur
  • 3/4 cup simple syrup
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 bottle dry sparkling wine, chilled
  • Ice (optional)

Grilling and Chilling

Thread grapes onto skewers and set aside. Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill to medium-high heat. Grill the fruit until it’s slightly charred and softened, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove the fruit to a 6-quart container and let it cool. Once the grapes are cool enough to handle, remove them from the skewers. Add the wine, brandy, orange liqueur, simple syrup, and orange juice to the container. Stir to combine, cover, and refrigerate for at least 6 hours.

Serve and Enjoy

When ready to serve, add the sparkling wine and stir gently. Serve over ice, if desired, and watch as your guests toast to the flavors of summer.
