Sweet and Cinnamon Fruit Leather Recipe
Get ready to indulge in a deliciously sweet and warm snack that’s perfect for any lunch box! Our all-natural fruit leather combines the juiciness of ripe pears with the comforting warmth of cinnamon.
Before You Begin
To make this recipe, you’ll need a non-stick silicone baking mat. Plan ahead, as the fruit leather requires a 6- to 7-hour baking time.
Gather Your Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ripe Bartlett or Comice pears
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of fine salt
- 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
Let’s Get Started!
- Preheat your oven to 170°F and arrange a rack in the middle. Line a rimmed baking sheet with a silicone baking mat and set it aside.
- Peel, core, and dice the pears, then add them to a medium saucepan with the water, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, then reduce the heat and simmer until the pears are tender (about 15-20 minutes).
- Transfer the mixture to a blender, add the lemon juice, and blend until smooth (about 1 minute).
Create Your Fruit Leather
- Pour the purée onto the prepared baking mat, tracing the inside of the colored border to create a rectangle. If your mat has no border, leave a 1-inch border from the edge.
- Pour the remaining purée within the borders in a zigzag pattern, then use a rubber spatula to spread it evenly.
- Keeping the baking sheet on a flat surface, gently shake it back and forth to even out the surface of the purée.
Bake and Cool
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 6-7 hours, or until the surface of the fruit leather is slightly sticky to the touch but doesn’t leave an indentation when pressed.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven, let it cool completely, then transfer the fruit leather to a 16-inch-long sheet of waxed or parchment paper.
- Cut the fruit leather into desired shapes or strips, roll them up with the paper, and store them in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.
Enjoy your delicious homemade fruit leather!
