Sweet and Cinnamon Fruit Leather Recipe

Get ready to indulge in a deliciously sweet and warm snack that’s perfect for any lunch box! Our all-natural fruit leather combines the juiciness of ripe pears with the comforting warmth of cinnamon.

Before You Begin

To make this recipe, you’ll need a non-stick silicone baking mat. Plan ahead, as the fruit leather requires a 6- to 7-hour baking time.

Gather Your Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ripe Bartlett or Comice pears
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of fine salt
  • 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice

Let’s Get Started!

  1. Preheat your oven to 170°F and arrange a rack in the middle. Line a rimmed baking sheet with a silicone baking mat and set it aside.
  2. Peel, core, and dice the pears, then add them to a medium saucepan with the water, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, then reduce the heat and simmer until the pears are tender (about 15-20 minutes).
  3. Transfer the mixture to a blender, add the lemon juice, and blend until smooth (about 1 minute).

Create Your Fruit Leather

  1. Pour the purée onto the prepared baking mat, tracing the inside of the colored border to create a rectangle. If your mat has no border, leave a 1-inch border from the edge.
  2. Pour the remaining purée within the borders in a zigzag pattern, then use a rubber spatula to spread it evenly.
  3. Keeping the baking sheet on a flat surface, gently shake it back and forth to even out the surface of the purée.

Bake and Cool

  1. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 6-7 hours, or until the surface of the fruit leather is slightly sticky to the touch but doesn’t leave an indentation when pressed.
  2. Remove the baking sheet from the oven, let it cool completely, then transfer the fruit leather to a 16-inch-long sheet of waxed or parchment paper.
  3. Cut the fruit leather into desired shapes or strips, roll them up with the paper, and store them in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.

Enjoy your delicious homemade fruit leather!
