The Perfect Combination
To create this masterpiece, you’ll need a few simple ingredients, including a medium head of garlic, a bunch of green Swiss chard, fontina cheese, pine nuts, panko breadcrumbs, cream cheese, sour cream, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
Roasting the Garlic
Preheat your oven to 375°F and prepare a 1-quart baking dish. Cut the top quarter off the head of garlic, drizzle with olive oil, and wrap it in foil. Roast for 45-50 minutes, or until the cloves are golden brown and tender. Let it cool, then squeeze the roasted cloves into a frying pan.
Sautéing the Chard
Chop the shallot and chard stems, then cook them in olive oil until softened. Add the chard leaves, season with salt and pepper, and cook until wilted. Finely chop the mixture and set it aside.
Assembling the Dip
Combine the roasted garlic, sautéed chard, fontina cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, and measured salt and pepper in a bowl. Mix until evenly combined, then transfer the mixture to the reserved baking dish.
Adding the Crunchy Topping
Mix toasted pine nuts with panko breadcrumbs and a pinch of salt. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the dip.
Baking to Perfection
Bake the dip for 20 minutes, or until golden brown on top, bubbly around the edges, and heated through. Serve immediately with crackers and enjoy!
